A healthy mind makes for a healthier body, and the reverse is also true; however the whole mind-body connection is something that has fascinated me for years. But I don’t just talk about it, I put it into serious practice, too! Three times a year I have a “mental reset” where I remove myself from all social media and the internet, and unplug our TV. I occasionally catch up on books, or beach house renovations, other times I go for a trip to the beach. The point is to get off the grid and let our brain relax a bit… I do the same thing with a cleanse and physical reset at least 4 times a year, where I stop using cannabis, alcohol, and all the many pills I take, both legal and otherwise. This helps me keep an even keel, because marijuana is an integral section of our day to day life and I don’t want it to ever be something I take for granted. “Too much of a nice thing” is truly real, and as your tolerance for cannabis grows, smoking it becomes more for maintenance than for its multiple other benefits. I use marijuana because it relaxes me, and helps me laugh more legitimately and shed off the stress of the day. I also use it because something about cannabis helps spark the creative process, so I tend to smoke a lot while I am writing during the day, but so this is why I like to take a split every so often, to step away from cannabis, feel what life is like without it, and give our lungs a rest.
