Keeping our distance

Like a lot of other households, our home tend to be 1 that differs in opinion on several topics, however my partner plus I vary greatly in our socio-political views of the world around us, however i guess it has to do with both our upbringing plus our differing options of careers. I’m a nurse at one of the local senior housing facilities where I must face both life plus death situations plus long-term illnesses on a normal basis. My partner is a beat patrol police officer in the inner-city projects so the two of us have very unusual views of the world around us, when discussion that comes up in conversation very frequently is the use of medical marijuana in the treatment of terminal plus many long-term illnesses. I can see the benefits of these treatments plus feel that medical marijuana use, plus in some cases recreational use, should be legalized. My partner is furious every time I try to even mention this topic because he deals with the use of drugs such as marijuana plus much worse in a much unusual situation.  He comes face-to-face each afternoon with illegal drug distributors plus the consequences of those who partake of these as well. The often sees very young lives cut short by overdose plus is completely against the legalization of medical or recreational marijuana, but he feels awful by legalizing this allegedly “harmless” drug, it will lead to be more frequent use of harder drugs that take lives on a frequent basis. He feels that medical marijuana needs to be strictly regulated plus only through, extremely rigorous testing, should it be available to anyone… Because I see the other side of it where there are people suffering from long-term pain or life ending illnesses, I see the benefits of having it readily available to help and ease their discomfort. I don’t feel that medical marijuana is the answer, to everything, however if they can make a person more comfortable in the last afternoons I feel that it should be an option for them.
